26/06/2008 - Today I had the news that Venetia, a very sweet guinea pig, had to be put too sleep.  Sadly, she had developed a mammary tumour, because she was an elderly lady, operating on her was not an option.
I know Joy will miss Venetia terribly, I am so sorry for your loss.

1/03/2008 - Saffy, the hamster, sadly passed away today. She passed away peacefully in her sleep as her owners were stroking her. She was a great little character and boarded at Bunnies Barn on a few occassions. Saffy was a very friendly hamster and will be sadly missed by her "mum" Kate.

23/09/2007 - Velvet, a very sweet guinea pig sadly passed away in her sleep tonight. She lived within a guinea pig family of ten and was the eldest. I know you will be missed by Pat, in Pat's words you were her "sweet little soul", rest in peace little one. x x x

17/08/2007 - I received a message today from Helen to advise me that Asia had to be put too sleep. Asia had come to Bunnies Barn on a couple of occassions and was my oldest guest at nine years old.  I know this was a very hard decision to make for Helen but as Helen said, "Asia is back with her mum, running free and no doubt getting up to mischief".

02/08/2007 - On going to check the bunnies, I found Flo, she had suddenly passed away with no warning. It was a shock as she had not been ill and I am absolutely devastated. Flo, your life suddenly ended here with me but may you now start a new life elsewhere. xxxxx

10/07/2007 - Today we had to let Sunrise go, she was a lovely rabbit but was suffering with her back legs and she could hardly walk and she had lost a lot of muscle. She would just sit in her hutch or the run and she definately was not enjoying life.  I decided to let her go, now she can run free with the other rabbits and be pain free. I will miss you terribly Sunrise but at least I know you are suffering no more.

29/05/2007 - Hretha, an elderly gerbil, was put to sleep today. She had trouble breathing and it was best to let her go, I know Maaike and Tom made this decision with Hretha's best interests at heart and will miss her terribly. Hretha, may you now rest easy.

08/05/2007 - Stanley was sadly put to sleep today,he was a lovely rabbit but was suffering with his teeth and unable to eat, after being prescribed anti-biotics he was no better and his owner made the sad decision to let him go. He had boarded me on quite a few occassions and I was very fond of him, he will be very much missed. Lisa and family, our thoughts are with you.

25/04/2007 - Tilly belonged to a friend of mine but sadly had to be put to sleep,  she had a tumour so it was kinder to let her go. Tilly had boarded with Bunnies Barn and was a very friendly rat. I know she will be sadly missed by Emma and Sophie.

13/04/2007 - Today I received the news that Thomas had been put to sleep yesterday. He was a 5 year old guinea pig but was suffering very badly with his teeth causing nasal problems. He had come to Bunnies Barn the week previous and his owner, Joy was so pleased he had hung on for her to come home so at least she was able to spend a few more days with Thomas before it was his time to go. xx

21/03/2007 - Today, Flossie, my sooty fawn dwarf lop was put too sleep. She was 5 years old and had always been a very healthy rabbit but last week when I went out at breakfast time I was upset to find she had woken with a very severe head tilt. The vets gave Flossie medication and at one point. I thought she seemed to improve but sadly today, she was at her worst and could not walk, drink or eat. After consulting with the vets, we agreed it was kinder to let Flossie go. Tonight, when putting the rabbits to bed, it didnt seem right not seeing her there. She always gave a lap of honour around the run before being putting to bed. Flossie, we will all miss you, however hard it was to let you go, I know I made the right decision for you. Rest in peace my little one. xxxxxx

Smoky, you have joined Minty and Dusty and together they will look after you. The only comfort I have in your passing is that you are suffering no-more. Sleep peacefully little one. x

15/12/2006 - Smoky sadly had to be put to sleep today. He was still a baby but in his short life had been plagued with illness. He had a very severe head tilt making it impossible for him to eat and drink and even with medication, this showed no signs of improvement so we thought it was kinder to let him go. xxxxxx

To Dusty & Minty, you were only with us a short while but both of you made such a huge impact on our family and you will be sadly missed by us all. You came to our home together and you left the home together. Little fellas, may you now both rest in peace xxxxxx

06/12/2006 - Dusty my beautiful standard grey Chinchilla. He came to me the same time as Minty and the vets are not sure as to whether he may have caught an infection from Minty or died caused by the stress of losing his housemate.  They were a very close pair and whilst Minty was the hyper chinchilla and Dusty was the laid back one, they bonded brilliantly. He also passed away in my arms after a very short illness. I am absolutely gutted at losing both my boys within a day.  xxxxxx

05/12/06 - Minty, my Wilson white Chinchilla sadly passed away today. He was only two and a half years old and had been with us since April 2006 and in the short time he had been with us, had very much become a huge part of the family. Minty was a very active and scatty chinchilla and was very amusing to watch as he whizzed around his cage. Due to a very short illness, Minty passed away in my arms. xxxxxx

14/10/2006 - Pepsi, my daughters hamster, sadly was put to sleep today. She was a very good age, 2 years and 2 months and a lovely little hamster. The vet told my daughter she was obviously a well looked after hamster and she was. Unfortunately she was having trouble breathing so it was kinder to let her go. As my daughter was unable to say goodbye properly at the vets, we wrote a poem and attached it to a balloon and let the balloon go, as soon as the balloon was out of sight, my daughter said Pepsi had reached heaven.xxxxxx
The poem read:-
I loved you Pepsi more than you will ever know
But in the end, I had to let you go
At least you are in pain no more
And on the way to heavens door
I am sending this balloon to say goodbye
Because when you passed, all I could do was cry
Rest in peace my little one
My goodbyes have now been done

05/10/2006 - Merlin came to Bunnies Barn on a couple of occassions and he made a very lasting impression. He loved human contact and whenever I went into the garden, he would come across his run for a smooth and cuddle. Unfortunately today, I received the sad news that Merlin had become the victim of a fox. So to Lynda and family, I am so sorry for your loss.xxxxxx
